### Windows RT 8.1

Windows RT 8.1 was released on October 17 2013, it was the default operating system for both second generation Windows RT devices and was released as an upgrade for all first generation devices. For the second and final release of Windows RT the included Office suite was renamed to Office 2013 RT Home & Student Plus and was updated to include Outlook as well as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Mainstream support for Windows RT 8.1 ended on January 9th 2018, and extended support for Windows RT 8.1 ended on January 10th 2023.

Office 2013 RT Home & Student Plus support officially ended on April 11th 2023 however it continued to received updates until November 14th 2023.

The Windows RT 8.1 Store is now closed. Purchasing new apps from the Store was disabled on January 10th 2023 and support for updating already installed apps was ended on 30th June 2023.

### Windows RT 8

Windows RT 8 was released on October 26 2012. This first release of Windows RT included Office Home and Student 2013 RT which consisted of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Windows RT 8 support ended on January 12th 2016, customers were required to update to Windows RT 8.1 to continue receiving support.

Office Home and Student 2013 RT support ended with Windows RT 8.

The Windows 8 Store was closed on July 1st 2019.
